Fall Banquet Reminder

Parents,

 

This is a reminder that if you would like to attend the Fall Sports Banquet this Thursday, December 13^th, the last day to purchase tickets is tomorrow, December 11^th.

 

They are available at the RHS Athletics Office for $12 for sub-varsity players, family and guests.  Varsity players will receive a complimentary ticket for themselves.  Because of the catering numbers, no tickets can be sold at the door.

Fall Sports Banquet December 13

Dear Parents,

           

            Our Fall Sports Banquet will be held Thursday, December 13^th at 6:30 PM in the Rockwall High School Cafeteria.  We will be recognizing the accomplishments of our Volleyball, Cross Country, and Football teams.

            There is no charge for all Varsity team members, but parents, dates and other guests will be required to purchase tickets.  The tickets will go on sale starting November 26^th in the RHS Athletics office; the cost will be $12.  In order to give a firm number to the caterers, there will be a deadline of December 11^th for the purchase of the tickets.

            The Jacket Backers have planned a nice evening, and we believe it will be a great night of honoring these student athletes for their achievements.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call.

Post season All-District Awards!!

It was tough to see the season come to an end, but the team had a great year!  We did have some players receive individual awards.  Congratulations to these athletes!!  Thanks again for your support.  Go Jackets!!

The Lady Jackets had a great win on Tuesday night, defeating Sachse in four games!!!!! The girls again showed tremendous poise and fight and rallied back down 21-13 in game four to win 12 of the next 14 points and take the victory 25-23 in the fourth and final game!  We are Bi-District champions and have a familiar opponent in the Area round.     Friday is going to be some great volleyball we would love to see you there.  Go Jackets!!

The Rockwall Varsity volleyball team had a great match on Friday versus Tyler Lee, winning three straight games!  We are super proud of the girls accomplishments throughout the regular season.  The girls finished the regular season 25-15 and 10-3 (2nd) in District 12-5A.  We start our playoff run with a bi-district match on Tuesday night.

Playoff game!!!!

Congratulations to all our high school teams on a great year and to our JV team especially for their 12-5A district co-championship!!

Our varsity girls will have a tie breaker playoff game versus Tyler Lee this Friday at 6:00 at Mabank high school. The match is for seeding purposes and neither will be eliminated. Tickets will be $5 for adults $3 for students. Don't miss it!! Go Jackets!!!

Next Tuesday will be our bi-district playoff game at 6:00 at the Garland Special Events center opponent TBD. More details on this to come!

Varsity Saturday Practices

We will have three Varsity Saturday practices this year September 15, October 6 and October 20 from 9am til noon.    Go Jackets!!

Pearland tournament

Congratulations to the Rockwall volleyball varsity for defeating the host team Pearland  (ranked #5 in lonstarvolleyball's state rankings) and defeating Georgetown twice (ranked #3 in TGCA 4a state poll).  Overall we had a great tournament!! District starts this week! Go jackets!!!

Home date information

Friday September 7th will be our Tribute to Faculty night. 

Tuesday September 11th will be Crazy Fan Night.  Details coming on this one.  We will be encouraging students to attend and go crazy. 

September 25th will be our Dig Pink Match.  Michelle has a really cool design for the shirt.  Each player will be responsible for selling shirts which raise money for the Dig Pink fund.  Those affected by this horrible disease are recognized at the match.

Friday September 28th will be home vs. Heath and our junior high night as well as Pack the Gym night. 

October 9th's home match will be parents night.  Please make plans to be there for players to make a simple presentation of thanks to you before the match. 

The second to last home match Friday October Oct 12th is homecoming so our match will be first at 5:30.

The Richardson Pearce match October 16th has been moved to our place and this will be our last home match and correspondingly Senior Night!!!  Its going to be a great night.  Junior parents organize food and drink and decorations for celebration of the seniors after the match paid for by Jacketbackers.

The varsity team finished with wins versus Sachse, Lake Travis and Mckinney to take home a consolation trophy in the very competitive Allen tournament.

In Loving Memory - Kensley Jones

Kensley Jones, daughter of Sarah Hubbins a 2009 RHS graduate and volleyball player passed away on August 19, 2012.  We grieve with the family during this difficult time.  We love you and you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Pearland trip information

The year we are headed to the Nike Volleyball Classic August 30-September 1st in Pearland, TX.

The tournament is one of the largest high school tournaments in the nation featuring 76 teams this year! The competition is held at seven different sites in the Pearland area.  Final schedules posted on August 20th.   Details including schedules and playing sites for the tournament can be found at:

Rockwall High School Volleyball 2012 First two weeks of practice

August 6th

9th – 12th Grade 6:30am – Running (9th - 12th @ RHS Track)

Athletes will be required to run 2 x 300 yd. shuttles. The shuttle times will not keep the athlete from making the team but will keep the athlete from competing in a match. The two shuttle times added together must be under:

2:00 min Varsity; 2 min 5seconds. = JV Team ;2 min 10 seconds = Freshman Team

9th – 12th Grade Tryouts: 7:30 am. – 10:00am. @ RHS Competition Gym  (running and vb shoes, kneepads)

9th – 12th Grade Tryouts: 1:00pm – 4:00pm @ RHS Competition Gym (vb shoes, kneepads)

August 7th:

9th – 12th Grade Tryouts: 7:30am – 10:00 am   1:00 to 4:00pm –  @ RHS

Very important RHS camp details:

Freshmen there will be an additional training from 3:45 to 4:45 after the regular training session from  1 to 3:30.  There will be no further training in the evening. Also if you have not signed up for camp it is not too late!!! You can show up tomorrow and walk up register!  Its $85 and goes Monday through Thursday.  We hope to see everyone there!

Also the following week the Team Camp is for varsity only!!!

The window will be open for you to order shoes and ankle braces two weeks and shoes will be ready for our first practice on August 6.  We do not require our athletes to wear ankle braces.  However we do like for all of our athletes to be in the same shoes.  The price is much lower than retail price.   Let me know if you have any questions!

 Big thank you to everyone who registered a team this year!  Play will begin at 8 AM (2 on 2 starts at 2PM)  so get there in time to check-in and get your t shirt!  Bring shade if you have it!  The Oasis is providing the facility to RHS volleyball for free.  In exchange they are offering a hamburger/hotdog/chip/drink to participants for $10.  We would encourage everyone to participate in the cookout as a thank you for their donation to our program's fundraiser.

Oasis Beach Club

The 8th annual Jessica Frances Shaw tournament honors the former Rockwall High School volleyball player.  This year it will be held at the Oasis Beach Club in Rockwall and features four divisions:  Coed four competitive, Coed four recreational, Women's 2's 14 and under Women's 2's open.  We are expecting more that 40 teams to participate this year.

Rockwall-ex selected to national team

ROCKWALL — Maggie Brindock, a Rockwall High School 2010 graduate and varsity volleyball standout, has been selected as a member of the U.S. Women’s National A2 Volleyball Team.

  Brindock joined 207 top collegiate athletes from 73 different colleges in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in February to compete for a spot on the team.

  The Notre Dame starting setter was picked to be part of the national program and will begin training on June 26th in Columbus, Ohio, for the team’s first appearance at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships scheduled for July 1-4.

Other notes from the league:

-Admission will be $2 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under. -There will be a concession stand. -Chairs will be provided, please do not bring additional chairs. -No outside coolers or food will be allowed in the facility.
-At the conclusion of pool play, bracket play will begin.
-All Teams will make playoffs in the Gold, Silver or Bronze brackets.
Bracket placement will be determined by wins/losses (or win %) in pool play.  Head to head will be used if necessary.
3 team pools will play each team in their pool a best 2 out of three match to 25 points.
4 team pools will play one game to 30 against each team in their pool.
5 Team pools will play 1 game to 21 points against each team in their pool.
		Bracket play will be single elimination.
		Teams will be expected to referee during bracket play.
		Matches are not timed, so teams have to be ready to play as soon as the match on their court is finished.
