Hanna4Hope

Jacket volleyball family,

I am so very proud that our players, parents and coaches were a part of the community of people that poured their heart and soul into the awesome Hanna4hope event on Saturday. I got word that $25,000 was raised and they are still counting!! It was truly inspiring to see the leadership, initiative, wherewithal and commitment of countless volunteers to make the day great. This was and continues to be bigger than RHS volleyballI but I am so glad we were a part. I hope, pray and have faith we will continue to support the Clark family wherever and whenever we can. I also pray that as we walk through life we are able to use all things to keep our eyes on the right thing and our hearts in the right place. Cindalee put together an awesome collage that is a part of this post.

Varsity Coach Damon Wilson bio

Damon Wilson began a career as a competitive volleyball player in 1988 when he converted from a walk-on member of the basketball team to a freshman outside hitter at Howard Payne University. In 1989 he was named captain and player/coach of the men's club team. He served in that position until his graduation in 1993.

In 1993 he was offered the Women's Head Coaching job at HPU and coached both men and women's teams until 1997. The women's team's won three consecutive conference championships from 1994-96. The men's team became one of the best in the state of Texas, finishing 3rd in the 24 team Southern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association in 1997.

Coach Wilson received his masters from Tarleton State University in 1997 and became the head women's coach at TSU in July of the same year.

After a four year stint in Stephenville, Damon moved back to Dallas to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and coached with a brand new club in the Dallas area, Skyline juniors. His 2001 17 and under team finished first in the North Texas region and qualified. His 2002 his 16 and under team finished first in the region and qualified. His 2003 group finished 2nd in the region and qualified for the open division of 15 and under.

Coach Wilson took the job at Crandall High School in 2004, Leading that team to two district championships and one regional semi-final berth in his four years there.

In 2006 Coach Wilson began coaching with another brand new club, Dallas Premier. In 2007 his Premier 16's qualified for the open division and had an outstanding Junior Olympic performance, handing eventual national champion Laguna Beach its only tournament loss and later advancing through bracket play to the semi-finals, earning a bronze medal.

In 2008, Damon took the head coaching job at Rockwall High School and helped the team earn its first two playoff wins in his first season.

In 2010, Coach Wilson also began coaching with Impact Volleyball Club leading their youngest age group and also began coaching with the 692 beach volleyball club.
